'El Chapo' Gets Life in Prison

Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman has been sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years and was ordered to pay $12.6 billion in forfeiture.

He told a judge in a Brooklyn courtroom this morning that his life behind bars has been miserable and said that "there was no justice here."

The 62-year-old Guzman was sentenced after being found guilty earlier this year of trafficking hundreds of tons of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana to the U.S.

Guzman says he has been forced to drink unsanitary water, denied access to fresh air and sunlight. One woman who Guzman threatened to kill will made an impact statement before sentencing. Witnesses during his trial testified 'El Chapo' ordered and sometimes took part in the torture and murder of cartel rivals.

Guzman will go to Colorado's Supermax prison in Florence, Colorado which is considered the nation's most secure facility.
