Legendary shredder and melter of faces, Steve Vai, talks about the mentoring he received from Frank Zappa, his favorite Led Zeppelin songs and more on this episode of My Favorite Riff, our video series where some of the world’s greatest guitar and bass players, along with future stars, talk about music, gear, and most importantly, riffs.

Steve opens up about his time performing with Frank Zappa and shares his favorite riff, "Heartbreaker" by Led Zeppelin. "A lot of my stuff is not that simple. (Heartbreaker) looks like a simple riff, and yes it's simple to play, but man, it's deep. It's cool. It's well rounded, it's like the perfect sentence," he explains after performing the classic Jimmy Page riff. "It's a big fat statement."
