Largest Power Outages Remain in Miami-Dade, Broward Counties

The lights are back on for several hundred thousand more utility customers in Florida Wednesday.

As of this morning, the state Division of Emergency Management reported that the number of homes and businesses without power was down to 3.9 million, or about 37 percent of the state total.

In South Florida, the most outages remain in:

  • Miami-Dade County with 465,000
  • Broward County with 322,000
  • Lee County with 290,000

As of earlier Wednesday afternoon, FPL say've they've restored nearly 60 percent of all customers affected by the storm.

According to FPL, they are restoring power at four times faster of a rate then was possible during Hurricane Wilma in 2005.

Florida Power & Light is hoping to have power fully restored sometime this weekend.
